About Me

Instead of doing the standard write up, I thought I’d compile this list of random things about me. They are in no particular order. And I’ll probably keep adding to it as I think of more things. If you have any others you think I should add, feel free to leave suggestions in the comments!

1. When my mom was pregnant with me she and my dad called me “Prunella” – hilarious. The thing that makes that even better is that they had to ditch the one girl name they agreed on because it rhymed with Prunella. I’m really happy about this because there was a girl in middle school who was mean to me with that name. Natalie is way better.
2. I am an only child.
3. I have never colored my hair. (3.5 my grandmother told me that using the word “dyed” was improper, so I always say colored. I generally think she’s a little nutty, so it’s funny to me that this one stuck.)
4. I went to college site unseen (and I actually had never heard of Davidson until my first meeting with my high school’s counselor).
5. I was born in San Antonio, Texas.
6. I’ve lived in six states, including Mississippi and California.
7. I worked at the Gap in high school.
8. I went to an all-girls summer camp growing up and it was amazing.
9. I am deathly afraid of lake monsters because of legends about Lake Champlain’s Champ.
10. I love, love, love to cook.
11. I have a tattoo.
12. Making the bed is irrationally important to me.
13. One if my favorite things about my husband is that he understands that about me and makes the bed when he’s the last one up even though he couldn’t care less if it’s made or not.
14. Brian and I started “officially” dating on April 6, 2002. We got married on November 7, 2009.
15. We moved in together and got a dog before we got married.
16. I love the way my dog, Chambers, smells when he’s sleepy. {weird, I know}
17. I find my husband irresistible when he does manly things, like move heavy objects and change a flat tire.
18. I used to think I couldn’t be more different from my mom, but I realize more and more every day that we are so alike. And I love this.
19. The men in my father’s family have always done the dishes. Brian has accepted his fate very well.
20. I love my in laws. Seriously. I am so lucky.
21. I have a hard time controlling my laughter when I know I shouldn’t be laughing. It’s like the more think about how shouldn’t be laughing the more I laugh.
22. I think Carrie Bradshaw is really, really annoying and still haven’t figured out why Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda put up with her.
23. I have a debilitating fear of death. Not my own, but those close to me. And honestly, even typing this out loud is freaking me out. Any movie/book where someone dies makes me cry. Hysterically.
24. I could watch three movies on repeat: Love Actually, When Harry Met Sally, and The Princess Bride.
25. On one of our first dates, Brian and I watched The Princess Bride (my pick) and I knew he was the one when I realized he knew all the lines, too.
26. I am a daddy’s girl. My daddy is the best. Trust me.
27. I love to sing. Anywhere and everywhere.
28. I really want to spend an extended amount of time in Paris.
29. I love to walk.
30. I hate to run.
31. I am scared that when Brian and I decide to try to get pregnant that I won’t be able to get pregnant and I’ll be upset that I was on birth control for so long.
32. I have a lot of hippie tendencies.
33. I love red wine. And good beer. And champagne.
34. I had to wear Stride Rite shoes when was little because my feet were so small and wide they were basically square.
35. I love raspberries and could eat them by the pint.
36. I was an economics major in college.
37. I am overly sensitive to smells. Bad smells really bother me, especially mildewy towels.
38. I really like the color purple.
39. One of my favorite things to do it have too many glasses of wine with my friends.
40. I love old lady names.
41. I love lululemon. I walk into that store and want everything. Everything.
42. I would pick facial over massage any day.
43. I love my bed. I am almost as excited to come home to my bed as I am to come home to my husband and puppy.
44. I am an early to bed, early to rise type of person.
45. I love being up early when it’s still and quiet. The best walks happen at that time of day.
46. I love autumn. Everything about it. The clothes. The foods. The crispy air. The worst thing about California is it’s lack of this season.
47. I love flowers, even though I know they won’t last. I wish I could always have bouquets in my house.
48. A boy in fifth grade told me I had big big toes. And I’ve been a little insecure about my big toes ever since.
49. I am super ticklish.
50. I love getting all dolled up and going somewhere fabulous.
51. I love wearing comfy clothes and being lazy.
52. Sixteen candles is my favorite Brat Pack movie.
53. I’m proud that I know how to sew, but wish I did a better job using that skill.
54. I have the best friends anyone could ever ask for. They are fun, genuine, and smart. And I look forward to seeing them even when we don’t have something on the calendar.
55. I want to one day have enough land to have my own garden. A big one. With lots of veggies and herbs.
56. I love musicals. And not just the new stuff like Glee and High School Musical. Singing in the Rain. Kiss Me Kate. Sound of Music.
57. My first crush was Gene Kelly.
58. Occasionally I eat cookie dough for a meal.
59. Brian and I started dating my freshman year in college.
60. My freshman year roommate was in my wedding.
61. I studied abroad at St. Andrews University in Scotland my sophomore year in college.
62. I love to dance even though I have no idea what I’m doing.
63. Making cookie dough and keeping it in the fridge for cookie-related emergencies has become very important to me.
64. I must have coffee in the morning. With skim milk and splenda, please.
65. I’m pretty sure Brian knows me better than I know myself. Recent evidence: I randomly mentioned that I had found a book I wanted to read. He asked what it was and, when I told him, was mad because he had planned to get that for me for Christmas (and I spoiled the surprise!).
66. I worked in the library in college. It was the best.
67. I love ottomans. I think it comes from randomly loving “If I had $1,000,000” by Barenaked Ladies.
