A Great Song

I think a great song is one that transcends artist, genre, and time. One that, when you hear it on the radio, you always stop to listen to. One that just makes you feel good, even if the lyrics are sad. One that can be sung by a man or a woman, a pop queen or a folk legend. It never gets old and you never grow tired of it.

Bonnie Raitt’s I Can’t Make You Love Me is one of those songs, for me. I love this song and even though Bonnie’s version is my favorite, I’ll never tire of hearing others do it their way. That’s probably because the first time I heard it was when the cool kids sang it in my high school. Then I dug through my mom’s CD collection (much to her surprise) to find her Bonnie Raitt CD and have been pretty obsessed ever since.

Jora shared this mashed up version by Bon Iver recently and I have been playing it non-stop since (I’m sure my coworkers think Brian and I are breaking up…).

Isn’t that pretty great?

Just wanted to share the love.

What are your ‘great songs’?
